The Little Things
have a view on pretty much everything.
We don’t ‘Google’ anything, we ‘search’… He believes in his product but will also always listen to another view so he can learn.
Anyway, I had some bug on my computer and he was fixing it for me. My keyboard was filthy – I had honestly been meaning to clean it for at least six months, possibly a year….He cleaned it for me while fixing the bug.
I never would have guessed that such a small act would shift my mental energy. I sat down to work that night and I felt clean. Refreshed. Ready to go. It was such a great lesson to be reminded by someone else how some small things can have a disproportionate effect on productivity, energy and capacity – positively or negatively.
So some little things that could put a positive spin on your day:
- spend 10 minutes tidying your desk space
- spend 10 minutes stretching
- clear or organise that filing tray
- get rid of all the rubbish in your car
- put all those receipts in a plastic bag
- file those business cards: or throw them out or make a list of the calls to make
The trick with all of these things is to time myself and keep it to 10 or 15 minutes. That makes it a little thing. Mustn’t get sucked in to another task or making it bigger.
